Lanark Utd 0 - 0 Gartcairn

Lanark's unbeaten run continues however so does our poor disciplinary record. McCrum sent off in the second half. Fortunately this was evened up 10 minutes later with a Gartcairn dismissal. Overall points shared was a fair result in a rather dull game. Kudos to Geordie the Groundsman for getting the game on!

Looking back at the end of the season, I think we might look at this result as being a good one. Our squad has taken a big hit recently with mid to long term injuries of Scott Falconer, Sean Gallagher and Ryan Hutchinson. Throw into that the decision of our signed GK Pat Finnigan to walk away from the club and we left near the bare bones.

After a sluggish first half, there's a general consensus that we had the bulk of the play, but unfortunately never really looked to have a cutting edge. Alan McCrum's dismissal was a real blow as quite often it is in the latter parts of games that he gains much joy against opponents who do not have the same levels of fitness as himself. However, that's not to say that discipline does not need to be improved and this is something we will work hard on in the coming weeks.

Gartcairn are a considerably stronger team now with their 3 new signings who all played on Saturday. I'm confident the will be up in the promotion hunt at the end of the season.

Speedy recaptured some of his earlier season form and looked very sharp coming on with 30 minutes to go and our new signing, Stephen Wedlock, had an excellent debut in defence.

Like most, we have doubts as to whether the match will go ahead on Saturday at East Kilbride but we certainly hope that it does to try and get another win under our belts before the new year. Over the 2 weeks off, the boys will work hard in training and we have a friendly matched arranged for the 30th December to try and stay match sharp. On top of that, as always, we will look at strengthening the squad if we feel it will benefit the club going forward.

A draw nae fitba as my dad would say. Was disappointed in Gartcairn i thought they were a bang average side there for the taking but we just didnt get going or create much, dont know whether that was down to the heavy park or because we havent played for a few weeks. On the plus side its the first clean sheet for a while, we're still unbeaten and they didnt make up any ground on us. Cant see EKs park being playable on Sat so it seems that'll be the last game for a good while.
