Carluke 0-2 Lanark

Posted by gavinalston31 on April 19, 2014 at 11:35 AM

A big, big win for Lanark away to Carluke today.

Lanark took the lead around half an hour into the game when Danny burns outpaced his man down the left, bursting into the box and squaring the ball, the keeper was commited, leaving Kris Jarvie to knock the ball into the back of the net.

Lanark leading 1-0 come the break, within the first ten minutes of the half Carluke were reduced to ten men when the number two was sent off for a second booking. Lanark made the extra man count through Danny Burns, in a similar position to where he squared the ball for Jarvie in the first half, he finished well from close range.

Carluke hadn't really managed to trouble Lanark throughout the game, brought a good save from the keeper with a stinging drive from the edge of the box after Alan McCrum uncharacteristically lost his footing, about the only mistake he made all game.

Carluke will have perhaps counted themselves lucky to finish the game with ten men after a number of incidents which on another day would not have been punished so leniently. Player-Manager Brian Johnston was the victim of a shocking two footed lunge in the corner of the pitch, the player did take the ball but it was a cynical challenge. In a seperate incident in the same area of the park a Carluke player raised his hands to Ryan Docherty but it was unpunished.

A much needed victory for the Yowes, all the better to get it against their local rivals on their own patch.

Good performances throughout the team, Danny took his goal well as well as the assist. Alan Murdoch was immense at the back, mopping up everything that came his way. John Renwick followed up his goal last week with a very impressive display today, Davie Collins also had a solid game, a no nonsense display. Could really write a few lines about everyone who played, well done to all.

we said before the match that we had to keep 11 men on the pitch as we knew they would try to make it physical.

Would be surprised if u and a few others can still walk today after some of the assaults meted out. Not the first and won't be the last time Carluke have kicked lumps out of us, maybe if we adopted their tactics we'd be top of the league! We owed them that been a long time coming so well done everyone, showed great attitude and will to win. Now we should be looking up the table at the Ants, not down. :)

Happy Easter everyone!

Huge 3 pts yesterday and completely deserved. Thought we dominated for most of the game and should have won by more than two goals. Absolutely delighted with the discipline shown by the players, we said before the match that we had to keep 11 men on the pitch as we knew they would try to make it physical. We did exactly that and continued to play our football foul after foul after foul. We also expected the surface to suit our style of play and we really used this to our advantage. When we combine hard work with the ability the players have then we're a very decent side and a match for any team in our league and for sure the ones above also.

Onwards and upwards, four cup finals remaining. Mon the Yowes!

[RyanD Water under the bridge Ryan. Things i do to stick up for you.
I tried hard today not to take the bait but, of all the places we visit Carluke have THE biggest tosser in junior football. Thing is, the guy I had a go at wasn't him!
I had just said you were not having as good game as I'd seen you having when you put that lovely ball through for our 2nd. Great reaction. You must have heard me. Keep it up. Please.

well done Lanark today boys came through a lot some bad tackling off the ball incidents and for the three stooges the management team at carluke these guys conduct at the side of a football pitch was nothing short of a disgrace even to the point they were trying to referee the game good on the team staying focused and not let them take their mind of the game. Top of the league team carluke don't think so.

really good game and we played well again, our good footballing skills came to fore on the surface today, we were never really in any danger on the field but bc57 had a moment when he had to reply to one of Carluke's more boisterous supporters ,he promises me he will attend anger management next week!

Well done to the team. Massive result and hopefully a further confidence booster.

Team played well but, once again, Aldo was immense for us. Davie Collins and John Renwick both played very well today.

Delighted for the club but we have to keep this run going.
