Lanark sailed through to the next round of the Scottish Junior Cup in Fife this afternoon.

It was a great day for Lanark's youngsters and Stuart Mitchell got Lanark on their way after only 4 minutes with a fantastic volley from the edge of the box. Lanark were well on top and had a host of chances including a penalty saved from Alan Christie and went in 1-0 up at half time.

Shortly after half time Lanark went 2-0 up with a back post headed finish from Steven Christie (Sorry, could anyone confirm name) on his first start. Lanark were awarded a penalty around an hour in which Alan McCrum tucked away, good to break the penalty hoodoo! Stuart Mitchell made a good day for him even better by putting away a second with a neat finish. He should have had his hat-trick, the ref had already blown for offside although from my vantage point it certainly looked a fair goal.

Crossgates had put a lot into the game and were rewarded with a goal in the last few minutes of the match, a penalty.

The real standouts today were the two youngsters who grabbed the goals, good to see young players being so effective for the Yowes. Good professional displays all over the park making sure Lanark made it into the hat for the next round. Who does everyone fancy for the next round?
