Lanark Utd 2-1 Carluke Rovers

What a difference a week makes. Well deserved 2-1 victory today against our local rivals Carluke to hand them their first league defeat of the season.

We should have won by a lot more. Two excellent goals by Ronan Kearney, one a beautiful free kick into the top corner.

Wouldn't be Lanark without giving us a fright. Another sloppy goal conceded - in the 93rd minute. Managed to hold out for a further 3 minutes to ...

Paul Burns has been appointed as our manager. I wish him well.  Still unbeaten since he took charge of the team.  Long may that continue.

The New Season

The league season has begun with a 0-2 win at Vale of Clyde, courtesy of goals by new signing Shaun McKenna and a last minute clincher by Dale Gordon plus a penalty save by Gareth Halford. This was our first game in the post John Brogan era who has gone to manage Wishaw.

Team was taken temporarily by Paul Burns, who turned out and played well at left back, supported by ex lanark stalwart Craig Stark and friend of the club Thomas Mcgauley (for this game only due to other commitments).

Ultimately we drew too many games but it is the first Lanark team who also won points when not playing so well, getting a late equaliser or winner here and there. Lanark 1 v Gartcairn. 3 - 6th May 2017

Last game of the season. All or nothing.

Can't recall ever beating Gartcairn, so a good time to start. If we win we should go up but not mathematically certain. Results elsewhere could see us go up tomorrow IF we take care of business ourselves.

What will be will be.

Two games to go.

Our promotion rivals Gartcairn and Carluke have had good weeks not dropping points despite a punishing fixture schedule. Can we make the benefit of having not played since last weekend pay off for us at what is normally a happy hunting ground?

All in our own hands.

Good luck to the lads. Hoping we can put out a full squad tomorrow.
